Chief Workforce Officer SMARTUSA Durham, NC, United States
SmartUSA, led by the Semiconductor Research Corporation (SRC), and the National Network for Microelectronics Education (NNME), led by the SEMI Foundation, are driving complementary strategies to address the nation’s urgent semiconductor workforce challenge. With industry projecting over 3.85 million new microelectronics jobs by 2030—and 1.4 million at risk of going unfilled—these efforts aim to build an integrated, scalable education and training ecosystem that prepares workers at every stage of the pipeline.
SmartUSA is advancing workforce development through its industry-driven technology and innovation initiatives, connecting talent to high-demand opportunities across the semiconductor supply chain. NNME, in parallel, is establishing a nationwide framework that unites companies, educational institutions, and public-sector partners through regional nodes, modernized curricula, expanded access, and communities of practice.
This joint presentation will highlight how SmartUSA and NNME are aligning efforts, reinforcing one another’s strengths, and building shared strategies to grow, expand, and sustain the U.S. microelectronics workforce. Participants will gain insight into early deliverables, examples of cross-collaboration, and the critical role of partnership in shaping a resilient and future-ready talent pipeline.
