Taimur Burki is a seasoned Environmental Compliance expert with 28 years of experience managing some of the world’s most complex manufacturing operations. As the founder of Intel’s sustainability programs in Green Buildings, Waste, Circular Economy, and Water Conservation, Taimur has been at the forefront of driving innovative solutions for environmental challenges. He revolutionized Intel’s waste strategy by implementing chemical segregation, enabling the upcycling of solvents and metallic acids, resulting in potential savings of over tens of millions of dollars per fabrication facility annually. Recognized as one of the Top 100 Environmental Leaders per Environmental & Energy Manager Conference, offering expertise in circular economy, waste infrastructure and technologies, environmental compliance, green buildings, and a vast network of experts to identify and solve critical business process problems
Taimur's influence extends to shaping the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED standards, where he introduced alternative compliance paths to certify manufacturing sites, achieving LEED certification for over 21 million square feet. He also established Intel’s Global Solid Waste Recycling program, raising the recycling rate from 54% to 95% over 20 years. Additionally, Taimur developed a Waste Projection methodology with an industry-leading 10% accuracy for budgets exceeding $100 million per year, exemplifying his expertise in aligning environmental sustainability with operational excellence. Conducted benchmarking and process analysis with the result of segregating spent chemicals to drive upcycling of spent solvents and metallic acids, resulting in potential savings of $12M annually per fab and millions in capital savings.
Taimur has an MSc in Environmental Impact Assessment from Aberystwyth University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University
