Selim Bilgin spearheads Microsoft’s compute silicon and manufacturing engineering team responsible for design, development, manufacturing and packaging of Microsoft's state of the art custom computer chips, notably the Azure Cobalt - Microsoft's first-generation ARM-based server silicon, delivering measurable advantages in cost of goods sold (COGS), security, and performance differentiation for Azure.
In addition to leading the Silicon Engineering organization, Selim Bilgin serves as the site lead for Microsoft's Oregon campus, where he champions cross-functional collaboration, Diversity & Inclusion, and talent development across all local Microsoft teams. He also actively engages with local government, universities, and regional innovation councils to strengthen public-private partnerships and drive economic development.
Prior to joining Microsoft in 2020, Selim worked at Intel Corporation for 23 years in various technical and executive roles. Selim actively contributes to shaping the region’s tech and business landscape. He’s involved in efforts like partnering with Oregon State University and HP on Microfluids research, serving as a director on the Oregon Business Council, and is a member of the Oregon Semiconductor Advisory Council.
Selim grew up in Türkiye and moved to the US in 1995 to pursue his master's degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
