Dr. Frank E. Abboud
Vice President, Technology Development, Intel
Dr. Frank E. Abboud serves as the Vice President of Technology Development and as the General Manager of Intel Mask Operation and Quantum computing. In his role, he oversees the manufacturing and advancement of cutting-edge technologies that are integral to the production of future Intel products.
With a career that has significantly impacted the semiconductor industry, Dr. Abboud has been a part of Intel Logic technology Development (LTD) since 2005. During his tenure, he has occupied various technical management roles, with a particular focus on the mask-making process and enabling EUV Lithography. His recent endeavors include leading his team in the development of innovative tools and processes, which are pivotal for the implementation of Extreme Ultraviolet (EUV) technology, such as the multibeam mask writer and EUV pattern inspection and leading the industry in establishing Curvilinear Design Data format.
Dr. Abboud's academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science. He is an inventor with over a dozen patents to his name and has authored in excess of 50 technical publications.
An active member of the scientific community, Dr. Abboud contributes to the photomask steering committee of SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics. His past leadership roles within SPIE include serving as the Photomask President and Conference Chair. In recognition of his contributions, he was honored with the title of SPIE Fellow in 2014. Additionally, he has served on the supervisory board for IMS Nanofabrication AG prior to its acquisition by Intel.
