Angela Hwang, Ph.D. is Senior Staff Program Manager for Synopsys Academic & Research Alliances (SARA), where she builds partnerships that connect universities and industry to advance chip design innovation and develop the next generation of semiconductor talent. At Synopsys, Angela leads programs that provide academic access to EDA tools, enable research collaborations, and integrate industry‑relevant experiences into engineering education, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real‑world design challenges.
Angela began her STEM journey in chemistry (B.S., Penn State; Ph.D., UCLA) and discovered her passion for outreach during graduate school. Her career spans nonprofit and academic roles, including Technovation and Stanford University’s nanofacilities within the NSF NNCI network. She frequently speaks on strategies for workforce development and academic–industry collaboration in chip design.
