Sr Manager Global Sustainability
Lam Research
Lake Oswego, OR, United States
Joy Marsalla is the Sr. Manager of Global EHS-Sustainability at Lam Research, where she leads climate, water, and sustainable product innovation projects. With a background as a registered environmental engineer, Joy brings a systems-thinking approach to solving complex sustainability challenges and advancing net zero goals. Joy is a dedicated leader, technical expert, and problem solver with a passion for identifying and mitigating risk by connecting people, technology, and ideas. She is self-directed, highly analytical, and thrives in navigating complex global team dynamics. Her ability to advocate for long-term solutions to “wicked problems” has made her a trusted voice in sustainability strategy. Prior to joining Lam, Joy held roles at Intel, where she supported air emissions modeling and risk assessment programs, and at Nike, where she served as Chemicals Management Manager. Last year, she presented at SEMICON Japan on process emissions reporting and continues to engage in industry forums to advance climate transparency and innovation. In 2025, Joy is leading Lam’s Scope 1 Cross-Functional Team (CFT) subgroups, guiding collaborative efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through process optimization and retrofit strategies. She historically led the SCC Scope 1 working group, and played a key role in developing the Scope 1 cost-benefit calculator, a tool designed to quantify the financial and environmental impact of emissions reduction projects. Her strategic priorities for 2026 include launching global abatement pilot projects, deploying environmental sensors to support Lam’s global footprint, and developing training programs on green chemistry and circularity to support product development and regulatory evolution.
