The Clean Technologies (CTS) division of Dürr has developed an innovative solution for air abatement monitoring that utilizes artificial intelligence. This new system goes beyond reactive monitoring by using AI technology that learns specific process conditions. The Track & Monitor system observes both process parameters and local weather conditions to identify variations of concern within the air abatement system. This applies not only to the mechanical and electrical design but also to a broad range of functions from the Track & Monitor digital service portfolio—including customized features based on special customer requests. In addition to remote access, cloud-based data acquisition, predictive maintenance, and a virtual image of the system, Track & Monitor also offers GPS tracking, digital forms for off-grid certificate creation, and integrated Wi-Fi. The system can learn the baseline operation of the thermal oxidizer and proactively identify areas of concern to support manufacturing teams with maintenance planning. Monitoring the health of air emission control equipment both preventative and predictive maintenance introduces a new level of technological capability to remote monitoring. Previously, systems functioned mainly as reactive support tools for troubleshooting. Now, with integrated analytics, operational deviations can be detected in real time and aligned with process behavior. For example, the system monitors the bearing temperature of a process fan on a thermal oxidizer installed outside the plant. It compares the bearing temperature over time to the ambient outdoor temperature. A certain level of variation is expected; however, if a deviation greater than the expected change in ambient temperature is sustained for a defined period, the system issues a warning, prompting maintenance to inspect bearing lubrication and performance. This presentation will explore the range of available air emissions control technologies and demonstrate how predictive monitoring systems can help increase plant uptime and overall operational reliability.
